I have like 50 gb worth of steam games on my external drive that's currenlty formatted to exfat. If I want to switch from Windows 11 to Linux (Fedora Workstation 44 to be more specific), and I need to reformat said external drive top ext4 to run games, can i get away with:

Switch from Windows 11 to Fedora -> move SteamLibrary to internal drive in some folder -> Reformat external drive to ext4 -> move SteamLibrary back to external drive

Or do I have to redownload them when I'm on linux?

Also I should probably prefice that I'm doing this since I have other games that won't fit on my internal drive.

i've recently been experimenting with zorin os instead of windows due to my hatred of win11 and i've been trying to run games via bottles and for whatever reason when i scroll it will skip any scroll input that goes in the opposite direction of the way i last scrolled, this problem is only exclusive to bottles as far as i can tell as i don't have this issue while normally using my system

i've tried blocking certain drivers in my systems config files and it hasn't worked but what has worked for whatever reason is if i plug in my mouse via usb while charging it, the scrolling issues go away

are there any known fixes for this?

How do you get HDR to work when a Steam game has a launcher running like EA App and Ubisoft Connect? What's happening is the HDR launch args think these programs are the game so it tries to target that and fails to target the game itself. This causes the game to become blown out as the game is not rendered in HDR. How do you get child processes to inherit the launch commands that the launcher is using?

One friend of mine who convinced to finally make the switch (thank God he did cause frick no I'm not returning to Windows) constantly tells me to use Vim.

I have absolutely no idea why I should since I only use text editors for copying stuff (like exporting my Anki deck in a .txt format and copying it to feed it into a code to count how many words I have mined for the day, just Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C) or a tiny bit for CSS (cause I use a skin called Firefox GX, yea I know lame), so I don't really find any useful way to use Vim since Mousepad is absolutely enough for me to take quick notes.

So, why do people use Vim and is there any reason as to why I should to (for the ways I'm using a text editor)?

Apple werkt naar verluidt aan een nieuwe generatie AirPods die camera's bevatten om context van de wereld te voeden aan Siri.

Als je dacht dat Apple het onderste uit de kan heeft gehaald met de AirPods, dan heb je het goed mis. Het bedrijf werkt namelijk aan een wel heel bijzondere toevoeging voor ’s werelds populairste oortjes. Volgens onze Apple-vriend Mark Gurman werkt Apple aan AirPods met ingebouwde camera’s.

AirPods Pro met ogen

Apple worstelt al een tijdje met de integratie van AI in hun nieuwe producten. Siri is nog steeds oerdom en de concurrentie loopt gigantisch ver vooruit op het gebied van AI-chatbots. Maar Apple geeft niet op. Recent heeft het een samenwerking met Google aangekondigd om het Gemini-model als basis te gebruiken voor de betere versie van Siri. Nu lijkt het bedrijf zich klaar te maken voor het eerste product dat met AI in gedachten is ontworpen.

De nieuwe AirPods hebben naar verluidt camera’s in de behuizing zitten die constant met je mee kunnen kijken naar wat jij ziet. Volgens Gurman gaan de camera’s geen foto’s of video’s maken en fungeren ze louter als ogen voor Siri. Qua uiterlijk gaan ze in principe gewoon op de AirPods Pro 3 lijken. De oortjes worden intern uitvoerig getest, maar zijn in principe klaar voor productie.

Aanvankelijk zouden de oortjes in de eerste helft van dit jaar al uit moeten komen. Doordat de nieuwe Siri behoorlijk vertraagd was, moesten ook deze oortjes nog even op zich laten wachten. Het heeft geen zin om AirPods Pro met camera’s uit te brengen als Siri nog niet slim genoeg is. Daar gaat de eerder genoemde samenwerking met Google Gemini dus verandering in brengen.

Waarom camera’s?

De bedoeling van de camera’s in de nieuwe AirPods Pro is dat ze je kunnen helpen vragen te beantwoorden over wat je ziet. Een voorbeeld dat Gurman noemt, is het bekijken van ingrediënten in je kast en vragen naar een receptenidee. Andere ideeën gaan over navigatie, waarbij je instructies krijgt op basis van wat je ziet, of herinneringen die worden voorgelezen als je iets specifieks ziet, zoals je huis of kantoor.

Natuurlijk zijn er genoeg zorgen rondom privacy. De Meta-brillen werden al betrapt op het inhuren van mensen in India, die meekijken met wat je ziet. Apple heeft ook een LED-lampje in de oortjes verwerkt die gaan branden zodra de camera’s in gebruik zijn. Op deze manier weet iedereen wanneer ze mogelijk “gefilmd” worden.

Eerdere claims hadden het over de ondersteuning van handgebaren, net zoals bij de Vision Pro. Volgens Gurman en meerdere bronnen gaat dit voorlopig nog geen werkelijkheid worden. Zelfs de verwachte slimme bril van Apple gaat dit niet ondersteunen. Mocht je dus rekenen op handgebarenondersteuning, dan moet je misschien even een paar generaties wachten. Het is hoe dan ook knap dat Apple zowel twee camera’s en LED-lampjes heeft weten te verpakken in de nieuwe AirPods Pro. Je kunt ze eind dit jaar of begin volgend jaar verwachten.

NRC Handelsblad zou een artikel hebben gepubliceerd over Thiago Ávila, de man die de Gaza Flotilla mede georganiseerd zou hebben en nu opgepakt zou zijn door Israël. Daarin zou Ávila geportretteerd worden als een 'mensenrechtenactivist', en zou niet zijn opgemerkt dat Ávila een Gaza-conferentie bezocht zou hebben in Teheran. Dit artikel zou geschreven zijn door Nina Jurna. Er zou een eindredacteur van NRC Handelsblad naar gekeken hebben. Die zou gestuit zijn op de volgende passage: "Volgens Israëlische media en autoriteiten zou hij banden hebben met Hezbollah en verschillende keren op bezoek zijn geweest bij kopstukken van deze terreurorganisatie in Libanon. Ávila woonde de begrafenis van de door Israël vermoorde Hezbollah leider Hassan Nasrallah bij. Zijn advocaten ontkennen dat Ávila banden heeft met terroristische organisaties." Iemand die een begrafenis van de baas van Hezbollah bijwoont zou banden hebben met Hezbollah. Zou. Als in: het zou kunnen. Het zou kunnen ja, het zou ook kunnen dat hij toevallig in Beiroet op vakantie was en onderweg naar de midgetgolfbaan opeens terechtkwam op een herdenking, dat zou kunnen, we zullen het nooit weten, zijn advocaten ontkennen en er is geen mogelijkheid om te onderzoeken hoe dit zit. Zou zou zou, wat een heerlijk woord toch, maar zou u dat doen, zo'n profiel?

De verontreiniging, met de enterokokbacterie, leidde ertoe dat flink wat mensen in Amersfoort en omgeving tijdens twee periodes hun water voor consumptie moesten koken. De eerste keer, in december 2025, duurde dat een week. De tweede keer was in januari 2026 en duurde langer: bijna twee weken.

Zo'n 85.000 huishoudens hadden er in totaal last van. Het leidde tot een run op supermarkten, de flessen water waren binnen de kortste keren uitverkocht.

Uit het onderzoek blijkt dat de verontreiniging is terug te voeren op een zogeheten reinwaterkelder, aan de oostkant van Amersfoort. Vitens heeft ongeveer 500 van die kelders, waar drinkwater wordt opgeslagen. In de Amersfoortse kelder was op een aantal plaatsen het beton verouderd. Daardoor ontstond er een lekkage en kon het drinkwater vervuild raken.

De kelder, die ongeveer vijftig jaar oud is, wordt nu gerenoveerd en zal totdat het werk klaar is niet worden gebruikt.

Ook in Utrecht

Het was de tweede keer in korte tijd dat er problemen waren met een drinkwaterkelder van Vitens. In november vorig jaar werd drinkwater in Utrecht vervuild door een scheur in het dak van een drinkwateropslag.

Daar bleken de problemen te zijn ontstaan door bomen die op het drinkwaterreservoir stonden. Die waren zo zwaar dat er scheuren in het beton ontstonden. De ruim honderd bomen zijn inmiddels gekapt.

Iedere acht jaar

Een woordvoerder van Vitens zegt dat alle kelders iedere acht jaar worden geïnspecteerd. De problemen in Amersfoort zijn voor het bedrijf wel reden om te kijken of het onderzoek anders moet. Of dat betekent dat er vaker zal worden gecontroleerd, kan hij nog niet zeggen.

Vitens heeft ook gekeken naar hoe het bedrijf heeft gecommuniceerd over de problemen met het drinkwater. Dat verliep niet vlekkeloos, zegt Vitens daar zelf over. Zo werden de media eerder geïnformeerd dan de klanten.

Ook wilden zoveel mensen tegelijk checken of het kookadvies ook voor hen gold, dat de website het niet aankon. Door het inzetten van een noodsite moet dat in de toekomst worden voorkomen.

Vier jaar geleden veranderde het leven van Imke Walenberg (41). Na haar scheiding, wat zowel de beste als moeilijkste keuze was, stond ze er alleen voor in de zorg voor haar twee dochters. “Het is niet één groot kantelpunt dat alles anders maakt. Maar achteraf zie je wel: hier begon een heel nieuwe fase.”

Wat haar vooral opviel in die periode, was hoe stil het voelde. Niet zozeer in huis, maar in de gesprekken eromheen. “Ik miste een klankbord. Iemand met wie je even kon checken: doe ik dit goed, hoe doen anderen dit eigenlijk?” Die behoefte aan herkenning bleef, ook jaren later nog af en toe terugkomen.

Alles tegelijk

De eerste tijd na haar scheiding omschrijft ze als een soort permanente overprikkeling. “Er ligt ineens zoveel open. Regelwerk, emoties, praktische dingen. En je hoofd staat daar niet altijd naar.” Toch ontstond er ook iets anders: een vorm van veerkracht die ze niet eerder zo had ervaren.

“Ik voelde op een gegeven moment echt: ik ga dit gewoon doen. Ik ga het regelen.” Dat ging met vallen en opstaan. “Ik had niet alle financiële of praktische wijsheid zelf in pacht, maar ik leerde wel hulp vragen, iets wat ik voorheen nooit deed. En daardoor kwam ik verder dan ik zelf dacht.” Die periode heeft haar kijk op zelfstandigheid veranderd. “Ik voel me sindsdien echt onafhankelijk. Niet omdat ik alles alleen wil doen, maar omdat ik weet dat ik het kan.”

Altijd ‘aan’ 

Solo-ouderschap betekent voor haar vooral continu schakelen. “Mensen denken soms dat je in de tijd dat je kinderen er niet zijn, veel rust hebt. Dat klopt deels. Maar de rest van de tijd sta je echt altijd aan. En bij mij is dat 70 procent van de tijd.” Er is weinig ruimte om mijn fulltime werk, kinderen, sporten en alles daar omheen te verdelen. “Als er iets misgaat, is er niet automatisch iemand die het overneemt. Dat is soms zwaar, maar het maakt je ook vindingrijk.” 

Wat ze vooral heeft geleerd, is dat hulp vragen geen zwakte is. “Ik dacht vroeger dat ik anderen niet moest belasten. Maar dat maakte het alleen maar moeilijker.” Inmiddels is er een netwerk ontstaan van mensen om haar heen. “Mijn moeder, mijn zus, mijn ex-schoonouders, vrienden, buren… je bouwt langzaam je eigen vangnet.”

Vooroordelen 

Volgens Imke bestaan er nog veel misverstanden over alleenstaande ouders. “Sommige mensen denken dat je meer vrijheid hebt, of juist dat het vooral zwaar is. Maar het is nooit één verhaal.” Zelf ziet ze vooral de complexiteit. “Ja, ik heb af en toe een weekend voor mezelf. Maar daar staat tegenover dat ik de rest van de tijd alles alleen draai. En dat is niet iets wat je even kunt vergelijken met een andere situatie.” Ook haar nieuwe relatie verandert dat beeld niet volledig. “Hij heeft zelf ook kinderen en woont in een andere stad. We ondersteunen elkaar, maar we blijven allebei grotendeels op onszelf aangewezen. Dat is, voor nu, gewoon de realiteit.”

Trots

In gesprekken met andere ouders valt haar telkens één ding op: trots. “Wat mij het meest raakt is de kracht van iedereen. Of het nu gaat om mensen die net gescheiden zijn, of die bewust alleen ouder zijn geworden.” Ze hoort vaak dat mensen, ondanks alles, achter hun keuzes staan. “Er zit zoveel trots in, zelfs als het moeilijk is. Dat vind ik mooi om te zien.”

Wat ze zelf inmiddels vooral heeft losgelaten, is vergelijken. “Er is geen beter of slechter ouderschap. Geen ‘groener gras’ aan de andere kant.” Iedere situatie kent zijn eigen realiteit, zegt ze. “Soms is het roeien met de riemen die je hebt. Soms iets omarmen wat je niet hebt gekozen. Maar uiteindelijk probeert iedereen dezelfde richting op te bewegen: de weg met zoveel mogelijk liefde voor je kind.”

En precies daar zit voor haar de kern. “Dat is uiteindelijk wat blijft. Niet de perfecte verdeling, maar de manier waarop je het doet, met alles wat je hebt.”

In de nieuwste aflevering van Married at First Sight worden de stellen onderworpen aan een nieuw onderdeel van de show: koppelcoaching. De stellen gaan één voor één gesprekken aan met de experts, terwijl de andere stellen toekijken. Voor Kirsten pakt dat niet bepaald voordelig uit.

Hoewel Luigi volledig voor Kirsten wil gaan, bestaan er bij haar nog steeds twijfels. Als expert Eveline Stallaart haar vraagt of het haar lukt om zich open te stellen voor Luigi, geef ze toe dat ze daar moeite mee heeft. „Luigi heeft duidelijk gezegd tegen mij dat hij liever gekwetst wordt omdat hij mij zo leuk vindt, dan dat we nu blijven hangen in wat we aan het doen zijn. Ik vind dat toch wel lastig, maar ik ga mijn best doen”, zo vertelt ze giechelend.

Giechelende Kirsten in Married at First Sight

„Maar je hoeft hem toch helemaal niet te kwetsen?”, zo wijst Eveline haar terecht. „Juist door je open te stellen tegenover Luigi geef je hem en kans en dat is eigenlijk alles wat hij wil.” Als Luigi vervolgens wordt gevraagd waar hij tegenaan loopt bij Kirsten, geeft hij toe dat hij het gevoel heeft dat ze vastzitten. „Ik voel op dit moment een heel vriendschappelijk niveau. Het is koud in de zin dat er nog niet echt stappen naar elkaar zijn gezet in de relatiesetting en dat mis ik heel erg. Bij elk stapje dat ik zet, kom ik eigenlijk niet verder. En elk stapje dat ik zet is eigenlijk al een stapje te ver.”

Terwijl Luigi aan het praten is, kan Kirsten zich maar moeilijk een houding geven. Iets wat expert Lennart Klipp ook opvalt. „Ik zit naar jou te kijken en je zit eigenlijk alleen maar voor je uit te staren en weg te kijken.” Kirsten haast zich te zeggen dat ze ‘echt wel luistert’. „Maar wat hoor je dan?”, vraagt Lennart zich af. „Kun je mij vertellen wat je Luigi net hebt horen zeggen?” Kirsten vindt dat lastig. „Ja, ik luister echt wel hoor, maar hoe moet ik dat herhalen?”

Kritiek op Kirsten in Married at First Sight

Ferenc en Domenik, een ander stel uit het programma waarin mensen aan elkaar gekoppeld worden bij het altaar, blijken zich flink te ergeren aan Kirsten. „Ik ga heel eerlijk zeggen: ik kan niks met haar”, zo meent Ferenc. Domenik valt hem bij: „Kirsten zat de hele tijd vooruit te kijken, dat doe je niet. Ik vind dat respectloos. Je bent wel gewoon getrouwd. Je bent man en vrouw en dat besef moet je gewoon hebben. Vooral op je 31^ste. Gewoon een beetje meer inlevingsvermogen.”

De mannen hebben het gevoel dat Luigi het zal blijven proberen. „Hij is een heel attente heer die haar wil verwennen en haar de wereld wil laten zien. En dat blijft hij gewoon net zolang doen, tot ze zegt: ik ben er klaar mee”, zo legt Domenik uit. Ook Cindy merkt een duidelijk verschil op tussen de twee. „Ik zie veel struggles, maar vooral veel struggles bij zichzelf. Dus dat gaat beetje van links naar rechts bij haar en van boven naar beneden. En bij Luigi zie ik alleen maar ‘oké, let’s go’.”

‘Egocentrisch’

Expert Lennart kan het ook niet laten om Kirsten op haar houding te wijzen. „Volgens mij is het voor jou belangrijk om anderen een goed gevoel te geven, maar de manier waarop je dat doet lijkt heel egocentrisch. En dat zal niet de bedoeling zijn.”

Als Eveline aan Kirsten vraagt of ze haar huwelijk met Luigi nog een kans wil geven, geeft ze aan dat toch nog te willen doen. „Ik blijf zeggen: ik ben eraan begonnen, dus ik maak het af. Dus dat is sowieso mijn ding”, zo besluit ze.

Mother's Day is coming up this weekend, and Donald Trump decided to celebrate with a predictably rambling and odd speech.

"Trump marked the occasion with an event honoring military moms, or as he calls them, military MILFs," jokes Daily Show host Desi Lydic in the clip above. "And I assume he showed them the love and respect they deserve."

Cue a clip of the U.S. president talking about Melody Wolfe, the mother of National Guard staff sergeant Andy Wolfe, who was recently shot and injured near the White House. Trump went on a complete tangent during his speech, talking about how autocorrect often changes wife Melania's name to "Melody" in Truth Social posts; he then made strange noises with his tongue to illustrate how fast he apparently types these posts.

Today's Connections: Sports Edition will require some baseball knowledge.

As we've shared in previous hints stories, this is a version of the popular New York Times word game that seeks to test the knowledge of sports fans.

Like the original Connections, the game is all about finding the "common threads between words." And just like Wordle, Connections resets after midnight and each new set of words gets trickier and trickier — so we've served up some hints and tips to get you over the hurdle.

What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT's latest daily word game has launched in association with The Athletic, the New York Times property that provides the publication's sports coverage. The sports Connections can be played on both web browsers and mobile devices and require players to group four words that share something in common.

Each puzzle features 16 words, and each grouping of words is split into four categories. These sets could comprise anything from book titles, software, country names, etc. Even though multiple words will seem like they fit together, there's only one correct answer.

If a player gets all four words in a set correct, those words are removed from the board. Guess wrong and it counts as a mistake — players get up to four mistakes before the game ends.

Players can also rearrange and shuffle the board to make spotting connections easier. Additionally, each group is color-coded with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, you can share the results with your friends on social media.

Released in August 2025, Pips puts a unique spin on dominoes, creating a fun single-player experience that could become your next daily gaming habit.

Currently, if you're stuck, the game only offers to reveal the entire puzzle, forcing you to move on to the next difficulty level and start over. However, we have you covered! Below are piecemeal answers that will serve as hints so that you can find your way through each difficulty level.

How to play Pips

If you've ever played dominoes, you'll have a passing familiarity with how Pips is played. As we've shared in our previous hints stories for Pips, the tiles, like dominoes, are placed vertically or horizontally and connect with each other. The main difference between a traditional game of dominoes and Pips is the color-coded conditions you have to address. The touching tiles don't necessarily have to match.

The conditions you have to meet are specific to the color-coded spaces. For example, if it provides a single number, every side of a tile in that space must add up to the number provided. It is possible — and common — for only half a tile to be within a color-coded space.

Here are common examples you'll run into across the difficulty levels:

• Number: All the pips in this space must add up to the number.

• Equal: Every domino half in this space must be the same number of pips.

• Not Equal: Every domino half in this space must have a completely different number of pips.

• Less than: Every domino half in this space must add up to less than the number.

• Greater than: Every domino half in this space must add up to more than the number.

If an area does not have any color coding, it means there are no conditions on the portions of dominoes within those spaces.
